Metal, Not Leather — and That Is Deliberate
Everything else Asperaria makes is cut from hide. These are not. A bookmark has to be thin enough to close inside a notebook without making it bulge, and stiff enough to grip a page without curling. Leather does neither well. Metal does both, so the clips are metal.
The tradeoff is honest: a metal clip can leave a faint impression if you leave it on the same sheet of thin paper for months. Move it as you go and it will not.
The Three Clips
- Hand Bookmark Clip — 2" × 0.8" (5 × 2 cm). A vintage pointing hand, so the clip marks the exact line rather than the page.
- Mermaid Tail Bookmark Clip — 2.2" × 1.6" (5.5 × 4 cm). The largest of the three and the one that shows above the page edge.
- Nameplate Bookmark Clip — polished gold or silver, with a flat plate for engraving. This is the one people buy as a gift.
An Engraved Bookmark as a Gift
The Nameplate takes a name, initials or a short line of text, engraved into the plate. It is the cheapest personalized thing Asperaria sells, which makes it the usual add-on to a journal rather than a present on its own. If you want the journal engraved too, the four methods are on personalized leather journals.
What It Clips To
Any notebook, in any format, from a Field Notes booklet up to an A4 pad, plus paperbacks and sketchbooks. On a refillable cover the clip lives on the paper, so it moves to the next notebook when the old one fills. The covers themselves are on leather journals.
The Rest of the Add-Ons
A journal charm clips to the closure elastic on the outside, which is the decorative half of the same idea. A leather insert adds cards and a zip pocket, and a pen holder keeps the pen with the notebook. Everything together is on journal accessories.
