What Regular Size Actually Means

Regular is not an ISO paper size. It is the format the traveler's notebook system was built on: a tall, narrow page of 4.3" × 8.3" (11 × 21 cm). The height matches A5, but the width is cut down by about a quarter, which is what gives it the distinctive shape. Asperaria's own Regular refills run slightly larger at 4.3" × 8.3" (11 × 21 cm), and the cover measures 4.8" × 9.1" (12.2 × 23 cm), so either sits comfortably inside.

Why the Narrow Page Works

A narrow column is faster to read and faster to fill. It suits lists, itineraries, daily logs and notes taken standing up far better than a wide page does. It also slips into a jacket pocket or the side of a bag in a way A5 never quite manages, which is why the format survived long enough to become a system rather than a product.

Which Refills Fit

The Classic Setup

Regular Against the Other Sizes

If the narrow page is the part you are unsure about, A5 at 5.8" × 8.3" (14.8 × 21 cm) is the same height with a full-width page, and B6 at 4.9" × 6.9" (12.5 × 17.6 cm) is a more conventional shape in a similar pocketable area.
